I’m Jonne, a photographer and photojournalist from Helsinki, Finland. Professionally, I have been in a fortunate position. As a photographer, I’ve encountered people in very different situations, for example, in a reception center for asylum-seeking children, in the cabinets of the Parliament House, in the homes of social influencers, in a detox center in the middle of the forest, and in one of the world's largest slums, to name a few.
I was born in Outokumpu and raised in eastern Helsinki. I have a master’s degree in sociology (University of Helsinki) and bachelor’s degree in journalism (University of Tampere). Before my studies and career in photography I played basketball at the highest level in Finland and worked as a renovator, gardener, handy man, stevedore and janitor.
